How does your posture measure up?Your ears, shoulders, and hips should all be aligned when seated at your computer. This allows you to maintain a neutral spinal posture, preserving the 3 natural curves of your back.
Do you have dual monitors?If you use both monitors equally:Your position should be centered between the 2 monitors. Angling them inward slightly helps improve viewing.If one monitor is your primary:1. Position the primary monitor directly in front of you.2. Position the secondary monitor to the side, directly next to the first monitor, at about a 30-degree angle inward.
Are your wrists bent to the side?A split-key designed keyboard will improve your wrist posture. Maintaining a neutral wrist posture helps reduce the strain on your wrist and forearm. Correcting your workstation postures now can prevent future aches and pains.
Are you lifting in the strike zone?When doing a significant amount of lifting, design the task or work station so that all lifts are in the strike zone. This means that the beginning and end of the lift are between mid thigh and chest level and close to your body at all times.
Avoid the glare!
Do not place your monitor directly in front of a window. The sunlight entering the window, coupled with the glare from the monitor, places a lot of strain on your eyes. Ideal monitor positioning is 90 degrees from natural light sources.
